New Britain Servo Valve Repair

Independent third-party component-level repair of legacy New Britain injection molding valves. Vickers / Eaton KBDG, KFDG, KDG proportional bodies, Continental Hydraulics on auxiliary axes, and Moog servo valves on higher-performance machines.

Where These Valves Sit

Four New Britain machine contexts

New Britain Machine Company built injection molding presses for decades. Many remain in active production. Below are the four common contexts seen at the bench.

01

Small-tonnage presses (100-200 ton)

Smaller New Britain presses. Vickers / Eaton proportional valves come off these for rebuild.

02

Mid-tonnage presses (200-400 ton)

Mid-range presses. Mix of Vickers proportional and Continental Hydraulics valves come through routinely.

03

Large-tonnage presses (400-750 ton)

Higher hydraulic flow machines. Moog servo valves and Continental Hydraulics proportional valves come off these for rebuild.

04

Vickers KBDG / KFDG / KDG

Common valve types found across the New Britain product line. All come through the bench for rebuild.

What NC Servo Does

Component-level repair on New Britain valves

Each unit is opened, inspected, and rebuilt at the component level. Failed parts come from inventory or off donor units. Bench verification before ship.

Spool & sleeve service

Spool-to-bore clearance restoration on Vickers KBDG / KFDG / KDG bodies and Continental Hydraulics proportional valves.

Coil rebuild

Solenoid coil rebuild on legacy Vickers and Continental bodies. Insulation breakdown is common after decades of service.

Seal-pack replacement

Aged elastomeric seals harden and crack. Full seal-pack replacement during every rebuild using modern materials.

Bench testing

Hagen-Busch and older-style hydraulic stands. Hysteresis, null shift, and step response data on request.

Donor parts service

Aftermarket and donor parts for legacy Vickers and Continental bodies. Many are no longer in OEM stock.

Repair scope

Bench-level component work on the valve hardware. PLC programming, machine parameter setup, and integration stay with the customer.

Common Faults

What usually shows up on New Britain valves

Common failure modes seen on New Britain valves at the bench.

Spool wearWorn spool edges and contaminated orifices on aged Vickers KBDG / KFDG / KDG bodies. Bench cleaning and lap restoration.
Internal leakageDegraded proportional valve seals and worn metering edges cause cross-port leakage past the spool.
Slow valve responseDecades of operation create sluggish response from spool wear, contaminated pilots, and weakened return springs.
Coil & seal ageSolenoid coil insulation breakdown and hardened elastomeric seals after decades of service.

Workflow

From part number to ship-back

Same four-step path through the shop whether the unit came off a small-tonnage New Britain or a 750-ton press.

  1. 01

    Get in touch

Call or email with the part number, machine context, and a photo of the nameplate if it helps.

  2. 02

    Bench review

Tech opens the unit, inspects spool and coil, and runs it on the hydraulic stand to confirm what failed.

  3. 03

    Cost & approval

We call back with the cost and a rough turnaround. Nothing is started without your sign-off.

  4. 04

    Repair, test, ship

Failed components replaced from inventory or off donors, the valve verified under pressure, and shipped back.

FAQ

Common questions about New Britain valve repair

Application-specific questions. For brand-specific FAQs, see the dedicated brand page above.

What proportional valve brands come off New Britain machines?

New Britain presses run Vickers / Eaton proportional valves (KBDG, KFDG, KDG series) alongside Moog servo valves and Continental Hydraulics proportional valves. All come off the bench for rebuild.

Are OEM parts still available for New Britain machines?

No. The New Britain Machine Company ceased manufacturing decades ago. The valves themselves are commercial Vickers, Continental, and Moog bodies that NC Servo can rebuild from inventory and donor stock.

Can you repair Vickers KBDG / KFDG / KDG bodies?

Yes. Spool wear, seal degradation, and solenoid fatigue are inevitable on these legacy bodies. Spool, sleeve, coil, and seal-pack work all standard scope.

How long does a repair usually take?

Lead time varies job to job, partly because parts are often pulled from donor boards. Give us a call with the part number and the situation.

Do you provide New Britain machine programming or software configuration?

No. NC Servo handles bench-level component repair on the valve hardware only. PLC programming, machine parameter setup, and integration stay with the customer or OEM.

What if the valve is beyond economic repair?

If the valve is not fixable, we will let you know and help source a replacement.

What is the warranty?

One year on parts and workmanship for repairs and rebuilt units. Standard exclusions apply for contamination, improper installation, and out-of-spec operation.

New Britain valve down? Send a part number

Give us a call or send a part number with the machine context and the symptom. We'll check the donor pool, suggest a rebuilt match if we have one, and walk through repair or cross-brand options if we don't.
