The 0811 series is Bosch's signature hydraulic valve family. Most of the Bosch units that come through the shop carry a part number that begins 0811 followed by six digits (a sub-family code, then a specific configuration). The breakdown below covers the sub-families seen most often.

  • 0811 402: solenoid valves and pilot-control units in the smaller body sizes.
  • 0811 404: proportional directional valves, including the most-repaired 605, 670, 661, and 184 variants.
  • Pilot-operated configurations: pilot-stage cleaning, coil rebuild, and seal replacement.

What NC Servo does with Bosch valves

NC Servo opens each Bosch valve, finds what failed, and rebuilds it at the component level. Most jobs on the bench are 0811-family units, but pressure-control valves and pilot-operated directional valves from the broader Bosch hydraulic range also come through.

0811 proportional & directional

The bulk of the Bosch work. Spool service, ultrasonic cleaning of the body, seal and spring replacement, pilot solenoid coil rebuild, and bench testing.

Pressure and flow control

Bosch pressure-relief and pressure-reducing valves, plus pilot-operated flow control. Pilot-stage rebuild and calibration.

Discontinued Bosch hardware

Older 0811 part numbers and Bosch hydraulics the OEM no longer stocks. If we have donor parts for the family, we can usually keep an older unit in service.

0811 402 series Smaller-body solenoid and pilot-control valves. Common variant: 0811 402 165 (pictured in the hero).
0811 404 directional Proportional directional control valves. Heavy hitters: 0811 404 605, 670, 661, 184, 046.
Pilot-operated configurations Pilot-operated 0811 valves with onboard solenoid pilots. Coil work and pilot-stage cleaning.
Pressure & flow control Bosch pressure-relief, pressure-reducing, and flow-control valves outside the 0811 directional line.

Common Faults

What usually shows up on a Bosch 0811

A description of how the valve was acting before it quit helps the diagnosis, but a part number is often enough. The categories below cover the kinds of trouble that show up on Bosch 0811 hardware.

Coils and electrical Burned solenoid coils, no actuation under command, intermittent switching, or low resistance on the pilot solenoid.
Spool and body Spool wear, contamination scoring, sticky spool action, internal leakage past the spool, or sluggish step response.
Pilot stage and feedback Pilot-stage contamination, position-feedback faults, null shift, or onboard control-electronics failures.
Physical condition Heat damage, contamination evidence, corroded connectors, damaged housing, or evidence of prior repair attempts.

Most Bosch jobs follow the same four steps. Lead time varies because some 0811 repairs need parts pulled off a donor unit, so we only commit to timing once a tech has the valve.

Phone or email with the 0811 part number and a quick note on the symptom. The shop picks up from there.

Open and inspect

Once the unit arrives, a tech disassembles the body, ultrasonic-cleans internals, and checks the pilot solenoid and spool.

Cost & approval

We call back with the cost and a rough turnaround. Nothing happens without your sign-off.

Rebuild & ship

Failed components are replaced from inventory or off donors, the valve is verified on the hydraulic stand, and it ships back.

They are related but separate hardware families under the same parent. Bosch-branded hydraulics focus on proportional and directional valves (like the 0811 series) used on mobile and industrial machinery. What is the warranty on a Bosch repair?

One year on parts and workmanship for repairs and rebuilt units. Standard exclusions apply for contamination, improper installation, and out-of-spec operation. Flushing and filtering the hydraulic system before reinstalling a repaired valve is recommended.
