Third-Party Repair of Yuken Servo & OBE EL Proportional Valves

Independent third-party repair of Yuken hardware: servo valves, OBE EL series proportional valves with LVDT position feedback, linear-actuated servo valves, and directional, pressure, and flow control bodies. Japanese closed-loop hydraulic specialist. Backed by a 19,000+ unit in-house inventory we pull aftermarket and donor parts from. NC Servo is not affiliated with Yuken Kogyo. Working on this kind of hardware since 1975.

OBE EL with LVDT feedback Closed-loop position feedback verified end-to-end on the bench.
Servo + proportional + control Servo valves, proportional bodies, and pressure / flow control all on the same bench.
One-year warranty Standard on parts and workmanship for Yuken repairs and rebuilt units.

Closed-Loop Walkthrough

How an OBE EL closed loop actually works on the bench

Yuken's OBE EL series uses an LVDT (linear variable differential transformer) to measure spool position and feed it back to the onboard driver. Repair work has to verify each link in that loop. Below are the four stages we check before signing off on the bench.

Stage 1 Command in Voltage or current command from the controller to the onboard driver card. Signal-path verification on the input.
Stage 2 Driver to coil Driver card output to the proportional solenoid. Output stage and coil-current verification.
Stage 3 LVDT feedback LVDT senses spool position. Feedback signal verified across the full stroke.
Stage 4 Loop closed Driver compares feedback to command and trims. Closed-loop step response measured on the stand.

Service Coverage

What NC Servo does with a Yuken valve

Each Yuken valve is opened, inspected, and rebuilt at the component level. Failed parts come from inventory or off donor units. Onboard driver cards get bench-tested under load before reassembly.

OBE EL with LVDT feedback

Closed-loop OBE EL proportional valves. Spool service, driver-card rebuild, LVDT signal verification, and full stroke testing on the hydraulic stand.

Servo valves

Yuken electrohydraulic servo valves and linear-actuated servo bodies. Pilot stage cleaning, spool service, coil rebuild, seal kits, and bench testing.

Pressure, flow, and directional

Yuken pressure valves, flow valves, and directional control bodies. Body internals, poppet seats, and signal-conditioning electronics.

Yuken Series

Yuken families through the door

We are a small repair shop, not a Yuken distributor. The series below are simply what comes through often enough to be familiar. If your part number is not on this list, send it anyway. We work on what we can.

OBE EL series Proportional valves with onboard driver electronics and LVDT position feedback for closed-loop hydraulic control.
Linear-actuated servo Servo valves with linear-coil pilot stage. Spool service, coil rebuild, and bench testing.
Directional, pressure, and flow Yuken directional control valves, pressure control valves, and flow control valves on Japanese-spec hydraulic systems.

Common Faults

What usually shows up on a Yuken repair

A description of the symptom helps the diagnosis, but a part number is often enough. The categories below cover the kinds of trouble that come in across Yuken servo and proportional valves.

LVDT and feedback LVDT signal drift, broken feedback wires, position-feedback null shift, or signal-conditioning faults on the OBE EL onboard driver.
Spool and body Spool wear, contamination scoring, sticky spool action, internal leakage past the spool, or seal failure on the proportional body.
Coils and onboard driver Burned proportional coils, failed onboard electronics, blown output stages, or open windings on the pilot stage.
Connector and electrical Damaged or corroded connectors, cable strain at the entry point, and contamination on the connector pins after years of service.

Repair Path

From part number to ship-back

Most Yuken jobs follow the same four steps. Lead time varies because some repairs need parts pulled off a donor unit, so we only commit to timing once a tech has the valve on the bench.

Get in touch

Phone or email with the full Yuken part-number string, a quick note on the symptom, and a photo of the nameplate if it helps.

Bench review

Once the unit arrives, a tech opens it, inspects spool and LVDT (where present), and runs it on the hydraulic stand to confirm what failed.

Cost & approval

We call back with the cost and a rough turnaround. Nothing happens without your sign-off.

Repair, test, ship

Failed components are replaced from inventory or off donors, the valve is verified under pressure, and the unit ships back.

Bench Verification

Each Yuken valve gets pressurized before ship

Repaired Yuken valves are checked on the hydraulic test stands before they leave. Flow, pressure gain, response, null, and LVDT signal are verified against documented procedures for the family.

  • Flow characterization across the operating range for the model.
  • Pressure gain and step-response measurement against documented procedures.
  • LVDT position feedback verified across the full stroke on OBE EL units.
  • Internal and external leakage checked after seal and spool work.

Inventory & Parts Pool

A 19,000+ unit pool with Yuken hardware in it

NC Servo's in-house inventory holds over 19,000 valves and drives accumulated since 1975, including OBE EL, servo, and directional Yuken bodies. That pool is where the shop pulls aftermarket parts and donor components for older Yuken units that the OEM no longer stocks.

  • Aftermarket and donor parts for OBE EL, servo, and directional Yuken valves.
  • If we have a rebuilt match for your part number, trade in your old valve for a discount on the rebuilt.
  • No match on the shelf? We can suggest a comparable Yuken or cross-brand option, or repair yours.
  • Rebuilt valves carry the same 1-year warranty as a fresh repair.

Repair Scope

Where the line is on a Yuken repair

NC Servo works on the valve hardware itself: the body, spool, coils, LVDT feedback, and any onboard driver-card components. Hydraulic system design, fluid selection, and getting the valve back on the machine stay with your team or your installer.

  • Internal valve work: spool service, seal replacement, coil rebuild, LVDT verification.
  • Onboard driver-card service on OBE EL units with integrated electronics.
  • System pressure setup and hydraulic schematic decisions remain on your side.
  • Putting the valve back on the machine follows your normal startup process.

Yuken valve down?

Give us a call with the full Yuken part-number string, a photo, or a quick description of the symptom. We will check the shelf, and if we have a rebuilt match you can swap your old one for a discount. If we do not, we can suggest a comparable valve or repair the one you have.

FAQ

Common questions about Yuken repair

A few things customers ask before sending a unit in. Anything not covered, give us a call at 734-326-6666.

Is NC Servo affiliated with Yuken?

No. NC Servo Technology is an independent, third-party repair facility and is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Yuken Kogyo Co., Ltd. or any related entities. All Yuken trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

Which Yuken products are in scope?

Yuken servo valves, OBE EL proportional valves with LVDT feedback, linear-actuated servo valves, directional control valves, pressure valves, and flow control valves. Send a part number to confirm coverage on anything not listed.

Do you work on Yuken OBE EL proportional valves with LVDT feedback?

Yes. OBE EL units have integrated onboard driver cards and LVDT position feedback. We open the body, verify the LVDT signal, replace failed components on the driver card, and test the closed loop on the bench.

Can NC Servo recover programs from a failed Yuken valve?

Most failures are hardware, and the unit comes back working with its program intact. Corrupted programs are rare; if one is already corrupted before the unit reaches us, that's the one thing we can't recover.

How long does a Yuken repair take?

It varies. NC Servo is a small independent shop, and lead time depends on the valve, what is wrong with it, and whether parts have to come off a donor unit. Give us a call once the unit ships in, and we can give a current estimate after a tech has looked at it.

What if the Yuken valve is beyond economic repair?

If the valve is not fixable, we will let you know and help source a replacement: a rebuilt match if we have one on the shelf, or a comparable Yuken or cross-brand alternative.

What is the warranty on a Yuken repair?

One year on parts and workmanship for repairs and rebuilt units. Standard exclusions apply for contamination, improper installation, and out-of-spec operation. Flushing and filtering the hydraulic system before reinstalling a repaired valve is recommended.
