Third-Party Repair of Duplomatic Servo & Proportional Valves

Independent third-party repair of Duplomatic hydraulic valves: DXJ5 and DXJ3 servo valves, DXE3J servoproportional valves with onboard electronics, and DSE3 proportional directional valves. Italian closed-loop hydraulic specialist with onboard driver-card integration. Backed by a 19,000+ unit in-house inventory we pull aftermarket and donor parts from. NC Servo is not affiliated with Duplomatic. Working on this kind of hardware since 1975.

DXJ + DSE coverage Servo, servoproportional, and proportional directional bodies all on the bench.
Onboard electronics Driver-card rebuild on DXJ5 and DXE3J units with integrated closed-loop electronics.
One-year warranty Standard on parts and workmanship for Duplomatic repairs and rebuilt units.

Valve Type Breakdown

Servo, servoproportional, and proportional, side by side

Duplomatic ships across all three categories, and the bench work differs between them. Below is the short version of how the three differ and what that means for repair.

Servo (DXJ5, DXJ3) Closed-loop hydraulic control with high-bandwidth feedback. Tightest tolerances, smallest deadband. Bench work: pilot stage clean, spool service, feedback verification.
Servoproportional (DXE3J) Closed-loop with feedback but more open spool geometry than a true servo. Onboard driver card handles current control. Bench work: spool service, driver-card rebuild, feedback verification.
Proportional (DSE3) Open-loop or driver-controlled current to the solenoid; no internal feedback in many configurations. Bench work: coil service, spool work, driver-card checks where present.

Service Coverage

What NC Servo does with a Duplomatic valve

Each Duplomatic valve is opened, inspected, and rebuilt at the component level. Failed parts come from inventory or off donor units. Onboard driver cards get bench-tested under load before reassembly.

DXJ servo valves

DXJ5 and DXJ3 series. Pilot stage clean and trim, spool service, coil rebuild, feedback verification, and bench testing on the hydraulic stand.

DXE3J servoproportional

DXE3J series with integrated onboard electronics. Driver-card component-level repair, spool service, feedback path verification, and full functional testing.

DSE3 proportional and others

DSE3 proportional directional valves, pressure valves, flow valves, and pressure-compensated speed controls. Coil work, spool service, and seal kits.

Duplomatic Series

Duplomatic series through the door

We are a small repair shop, not a Duplomatic distributor. The series below are simply the ones that come through often enough to be familiar. If your part number is not on this list, send it anyway. We work on what we can.

DXJ5 Servo valves with onboard electronics. Closed-loop hydraulic control with integrated driver card.
DXJ3 Smaller-frame servo valves. Same closed-loop concept, different sizing for lower-flow circuits.
DXE3J Servoproportional directional valves with feedback. Onboard driver card with current control to the solenoid.
DSE3 and ancillaries DSE3 proportional directional valves, plus Duplomatic pressure valves, flow valves, and speed controls.

Common Faults

What usually shows up on a Duplomatic repair

A description of the symptom helps the diagnosis, but a part number is often enough. The categories below cover the kinds of trouble that come in across Duplomatic servo, servoproportional, and proportional valves.

Pilot stage and feedback Pilot-pressure null shift, contamination in the pilot path, feedback wire wear, or feedback signal drift on DXJ closed-loop bodies.
Spool and body Spool wear, contamination scoring, sticky spool action, internal leakage past the spool, or seal failure on DXE3J and DSE3 bodies.
Onboard driver card Failed output stages, blown supply rails, signal-conditioning drift, and component-level failures on DXJ5 and DXE3J integrated electronics.
Coil and connector Burned coils, open windings, damaged connectors, or cable strain at the entry point on units that have been in service for years.

Repair Path

From part number to ship-back

Most Duplomatic jobs follow the same four steps. Lead time varies because some repairs need parts pulled off a donor unit, so we only commit to timing once a tech has the valve on the bench.

Get in touch

Phone or email with the Duplomatic part number, a quick note on the symptom, and a photo of the nameplate if it helps.

Bench review

Once the unit arrives, a tech opens it, inspects spool and feedback path, and runs it on the hydraulic stand to confirm what failed.

Cost & approval

We call back with the cost and a rough turnaround. Nothing happens without your sign-off.

Repair, test, ship

Failed components are replaced from inventory or off donors, the valve is verified under pressure, and the unit ships back.

Bench Verification

Each Duplomatic valve gets pressurized before ship

Repaired Duplomatic valves are checked on the hydraulic test stands before they leave. Flow, pressure gain, response, null, and feedback signal are verified against documented procedures for the family.

  • Flow characterization across the operating range for the model.
  • Pressure gain and step-response measurement against documented procedures.
  • Feedback signal verification across the full stroke on DXJ closed-loop units.
  • Internal and external leakage checked after seal and spool work.

Inventory & Parts Pool

A 19,000+ unit pool with Duplomatic hardware in it

NC Servo's in-house inventory holds over 19,000 valves and drives accumulated since 1975, including DXJ, DXE3J, and DSE3 bodies. That pool is where the shop pulls aftermarket parts and donor components for older Duplomatic units that the OEM no longer stocks.

  • Aftermarket and donor parts for DXJ, DXE3J, DSE3, and ancillary Duplomatic valves.
  • If we have a rebuilt match for your part number, trade in your old valve for a discount on the rebuilt.
  • No match on the shelf? We can suggest a comparable Duplomatic or cross-brand option, or repair yours.
  • Rebuilt valves carry the same 1-year warranty as a fresh repair.

Repair Scope

Where the line is on a Duplomatic repair

NC Servo works on the valve hardware itself: the body, spool, coils, feedback path, and any onboard driver-card components. Hydraulic system design, fluid selection, and getting the valve back on the machine stay with your team or your installer.

  • Internal valve work: spool service, seal replacement, coil rebuild, feedback path verification.
  • Onboard driver-card component-level repair on DXJ5 and DXE3J units.
  • System pressure setup and hydraulic schematic decisions remain on your side.
  • Putting the valve back on the machine follows your normal startup process.

Duplomatic valve down?

Give us a call with the DXJ, DXE, or DSE part number, a photo of the nameplate, or a quick description of the symptom. We will check the shelf, and if we have a rebuilt match you can swap your old one for a discount. If we do not, we can suggest a comparable valve or repair the one you have.

FAQ

Common questions about Duplomatic repair

A few things customers ask before sending a unit in. Anything not covered, give us a call at 734-326-6666.

Is NC Servo affiliated with Duplomatic?

No. NC Servo Technology is an independent, third-party repair facility and is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Duplomatic Motion Solutions or any related entities. All Duplomatic trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

Which Duplomatic products are in scope?

DXJ5 and DXJ3 servo valves, DXE3J servoproportional valves, DSE3 proportional directional valves, plus pressure valves, flow valves, and pressure-compensated speed controls. Send a part number to confirm coverage on anything not listed.

Do you work on Duplomatic valves with onboard electronics?

Yes. DXJ5 and DXE3J units have integrated onboard driver cards and feedback paths. We open the body, verify the feedback signal, replace failed components on the driver card, and test the closed loop on the bench.

Can NC Servo recover programs from a failed Duplomatic valve?

Most failures are hardware, and the unit comes back working with its program intact. Corrupted programs are rare; if one is already corrupted before the unit reaches us, that's the one thing we can't recover.

How long does a Duplomatic repair take?

It varies. NC Servo is a small independent shop, and lead time depends on the valve, what is wrong with it, and whether parts have to come off a donor unit. Give us a call once the unit ships in, and we can give a current estimate after a tech has looked at it.

What if the Duplomatic valve is beyond economic repair?

If the valve is not fixable, we will let you know and help source a replacement: a rebuilt match if we have one on the shelf, or a comparable Duplomatic or cross-brand alternative.

What is the warranty on a Duplomatic repair?

One year on parts and workmanship for repairs and rebuilt units. Standard exclusions apply for contamination, improper installation, and out-of-spec operation. Flushing and filtering the hydraulic system before reinstalling a repaired valve is recommended.
