Military Launch Systems Servo Valve Repair

Independent third-party repair of commercial servo valves used in military launch-system hydraulics: thrust vector control test equipment, transporter erector launcher (TEL) positioning, and missile test stands. Bodies are commercial Moog, Parker, and Rexroth.

N100 Where these valves sit

Four launch-system application contexts

The servo valves on launch-system hydraulics are commercial Moog, Parker, and Rexroth bodies on ground support equipment, test stands, and launcher positioning. Below are the four common contexts seen at the bench.

N110

Thrust vector control test stands

Servo valves on TVC ground test equipment. Ground propulsion test stands typically run commercial servo valve bodies.

N120

TEL launcher positioning

Commercial servo valves used on heavy positioning and erection hydraulics found on ground support equipment. We do not accept export-controlled defense articles.

N130

Missile test stands

Servo valves on rocket and missile test-stand hydraulic actuators for closed-loop force and position control during ground testing.

N140

Vertical launch support

Hydraulic valves on VLS support equipment, ground-handling fixtures, and launch-complex maintenance hydraulics.

N200 What NC Servo does

Component-level repair on launch-system valves

Each unit is opened, inspected, and rebuilt at the component level. Failed parts come from inventory or off donor units. Bench verification before ship.

N210

Pilot stage rebuild

Torque motor pilot stages, nozzle flapper, and pilot trim cleaned and aligned against documented procedures.

N220

Spool & sleeve service

Spool wear, contamination scoring, and lap restoration on Moog 760, D633, D634, and Type 30 Defense bodies.

N230

Coil & feedback work

Burned coil rebuild, feedback wire repair, and LVDT verification on closed-loop test-stand bodies.

N240

Bench testing

Hagenbusch and older-style hydraulic stands. Step response, hysteresis, and frequency-response data available for purchase.

N250

Donor parts service

Stock is hit or miss, but legacy hardware shows up often enough that we can pull from past jobs when we have a match. Ask about a specific part number.

N260

Repair scope

Bench-level component work on the valve hardware. Range qualification, ITAR-controlled handling, and program-level sign-off stay with the customer or contractor.

N400 Common faults

What usually shows up on launch-system valves

Launch-system servo valves run on test-stand and ground-support hydraulics. Failures fall into the categories below. Recognize one? A part number is enough to start.

Fault log — typical intake
Pilot stage Torque motor coil burnout, nozzle plugging from contamination, jet-pipe alignment after a contamination event, and pilot null shift after long service.
Spool and body Spool wear, contamination scoring on lap surfaces, sticky spool action, and internal leakage past the spool.
Coil and feedback Burned drive coils, feedback wire wear, and LVDT signal drift on closed-loop test-stand bodies.
Connector and electrical Damaged connectors, cable strain, and contamination on connector pins after years of test-stand service.

N500 Workflow

From part number to ship-back

Same four-step path through the shop whether the unit came off a propulsion test stand or a TEL hydraulic system.

N510

Get in touch

Call or email with the part number, equipment context, and a photo of the nameplate if it helps.

N520

Bench review

Tech opens the unit, inspects pilot and spool, and runs it on the hydraulic stand to confirm what failed.

N530

Cost & approval

We call back with the cost and a rough turnaround. Nothing is started without your sign-off.

N540

Repair, test, ship

Failed components replaced from inventory or off donors, the valve verified under pressure, and shipped back.

N600 Common questions

Common questions about launch-system valve repair

Application-specific questions. For brand-specific FAQs, see the dedicated brand page above.

What types of launch-system servo valves do you repair?
Commercial servo valves and proportional valves used in TVC test equipment, TEL launcher positioning, missile test stands, and VLS support equipment. Bodies are commercial Moog (760, D633, D634, Type 30 Defense), Parker (D1FP, D3FP), and Rexroth (4WRPH).
Do you repair missiles, warheads, or classified components?
No. NC Servo handles bench-level repair on commercial servo valves used in ground support equipment, test stands, and launcher positioning hydraulics. Munitions and classified hardware are out of scope.
Do you handle ITAR or classified work?
No. ITAR-controlled handling, security clearances, and classified processing remain with the customer or contractor. NC Servo handles only the commercial servo valve repair on the hardware itself.
Do you work with defense contractors and propulsion test facilities?
Servo valves used in those test environments can come through the bench for component-level repair from any customer who handles the program-side responsibility themselves. NC Servo is independent and not affiliated with any contractor or military branch.
Do you provide on-site service?
No. Bench repair is the standard service: ship the valve to Westland, MI for rebuild and testing, then reinstall after return.
How long does a repair usually take?
Lead time varies job to job, partly because parts are often pulled from donor boards. Give us a call with the part number and the situation.
What is the warranty?
One year on parts and workmanship for repairs and rebuilt units. Standard exclusions apply for contamination, improper installation, and out-of-spec operation.

Launch-system valve down? Send a part number

Give us a call or send a part number with the equipment context and the symptom. We’ll check the donor pool, suggest a rebuilt match if we have one, and walk through repair or cross-brand options if we don’t.
